Destiny and Jay are an absolute dream together. It was an honor to photograph their South Carolina wedding. Would you believe me if I told you it was by a complete unique circumstance that allowed me to photograph them? Let me explain. . .
I was originally introduced to this couple as their second shooter for their wedding by a dear photographer friend. My friend mainly focuses on Christian song writers and artist as he travels around the U.S. capturing them at concerts and such. Which is how he was introduced to this couple as well. Destiny is a Christian artist and song writer (yes, she is not only gorgeous but has a voice that will leave you speechless). Well, as it would have it, he last minute could not photograph this wedding. Meaning that I would now be the main photographer. Needless to say, I am EXCITED. Just through our short zoom call before the wedding, I could tell this couple was head over heels in love.
I arrive to the beautiful wedding venue, Salty Oak Farms, in Charleston, South Carolina an hour early. The forecast was looking a little dark, showing lots of showers to be anticipated. The wedding planner, Leslie, approaches me and immediately makes me feel welcomed. Yay! Aren’t sweet people just a joy to be around?
I make my way to where the bride and her girls are getting ready and man were they GORGEOUS! Destiny, the bride, was nervous for the weather but so focused on marrying the love of her life that she was still glowing. The groom arrives after I get done taking detailed shots and by this time the rain decided to show up.
Jay, the groom, was calm and collected with one thing on his mind. Destiny. Ugh, they are just the sweetest couple you will ever meet. He wanted to know how she was and how she was handling the rain situation. I ensured him that all was well and there will be a wedding held today! Soon after we did the first look with Destiny and her sweet dad along with first looks with her bridesmaids. To my complete surprise, Destiny and her bridesmaids started praying together before the wedding. This prayer ended up to be a worship song that made me and the videographer sit back and just listen. This was one of those moments where you immediately know you are the lucky one to be serving such wonderful people.
As time proceeded and the rain kept pouring down, Leslie came up with the wonderful and critical idea to move the wedding inside. Yes, that’s right, move it inside. So, that is exactly what was done. The beautiful ceremony was captured on the back porch and the reception was split between inside and outside on the porch. This might sound stressful, but it truly ended up being perfect. Just wait until you see the pictures!
From the moment Jay saw Destiny walking towards him, he never took his eyes off for the rest of the night. Even when the sun came out allowing for some breathtaking images, his eyes were on his wife.
The love these two share for each other and for Jesus created such a calming presence the entire day. Destiny and Jay will always hold a special place in my heart for the warmth they showed me on THEIR special day. I am humbled to be able to capture couple’s like this as a career.
